WRIST INJURIES WITH TENNIS
Wrist injuries are common in tennis due to the physical demands, repetition and role of the wrist during stroke production. This has been seen with a number of high profile players recently having injuries, including Rafael Nadal and Laura Robson whilst Andy Murray has also suffered in the past.
The key is preventing these injuries and your physiotherapist after a full assessment will be able to help with this by giving appropriate:
Strengthening and flexibility exercises.
Performing soft tissue techniques through the wrist.
Reviewing all of your upper limb kinetic chain including the elbow, shoulder and thorax to ensure there are no restrictions that could put excessive load through the wrist.
Advice with specific tennis and global body training.
Use of taping where required.
