September 2025 Newsletter

News and updates

Welcome to our September newsletter. I hope you had a fantastic summer and managed to take some time off to relax, recharge, and enjoy the sunshine. Whether you were holidaying abroad, exploring the UK, or simply enjoying some downtime at home, we hope you’re feeling refreshed and ready for what’s ahead.

Now that September is here, it feels like the perfect time to get back into our routines. It’s often the last big push to the end of the year, so let’s make it a great one. We’re here to help you move better, feel stronger, and stay on top of your game.

The story of the disappearing back pain…

Did you notice that ache in your back magically disappeared while you were on holiday? We hear this all the time. It’s often a sign that your back pain is less about a serious injury and more about the habits of your working life. Sitting for long periods, slouching over a desk, and the stress of a busy schedule can all contribute to what we call “postural back pain.”

The good news is that you don’t have to wait for your next holiday to feel that relief again. It’s all about bringing those holiday habits back to work with you. Think about it: on holiday, you were probably moving more, sitting in different places, and generally less stressed. We can help you bring that feeling back.

First, a simple check of your desk setup can make a world of difference. Did a colleague borrow your chair while you were away? Take a moment to readjust it to a comfortable height, ensuring your feet are flat on the floor and your screen is at eye level. If you have access to a sit-stand desk, remember to use it! Alternating between sitting and standing is a fantastic way to keep your spine happy.

Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, is the concept that ‘motion is lotion‘. Your spine thrives on movement. Try to build a few minutes of movement into every hour of your workday. Get up to grab a glass of water, walk to a colleague’s desk instead of sending an email, or simply stand up and stretch.

Here are a few easy stretches to help you:

  • Gentle Trunk Rotations: While sitting, gently twist your upper body to one side, holding for a few seconds before repeating on the other side. This can help release tension. You can also do this as an oscillating movement to introduce movement and stretch. 5-10 repetitions.
  • Shoulder Rolls: Roll your shoulders backwards in a circular motion, then forwards. This is great for relieving tension in your neck and upper back. 5-10 repetitions.
  • Standing Side Bends: Standing up at your desk and slide your hand down the side of your thigh and return to starting point. Repeat the other side. 5-10 repetitions.

By being mindful of your posture and building regular movement into your day, you can maintain that pain-free feeling you enjoyed on holiday.

However, if those old aches start creeping back, remember we are here to help. Our team can provide hands-on physiotherapy to get to the root of your pain and create a tailored mobility programme specifically for you. To help you maintain a healthy, mobile spine, we also offer sports massage to relieve muscle tension and reformer Pilates to build lasting core strength and stability.

Here’s to a pain-free end to your summer.
