We hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays. In this newsletter we want to highlight some of the pitfalls for festival goers. Victoria, (our practice manager) has first-hand experience of the Glastonbury medical services and how to attend a festival on crutches!
STAFF UPDATE
We would like to welcome Andy Marshall to the clinic. As well as a wealth of physio experience he also has a degree in sports science and rehabilitation. He has spent the past three years working in New Zealand and has a special interest in rehabilitation following sports injuries.
After approximately two years, Adrian Binns and Simon Redstone are both leaving the clinic. We are sorry to see them go and we wish them every success with their future careers.
Forewarned is forearmed in helping to prevent injuries whether on holiday, trying new sports or at festivals.
Victoria has first-hand experience of injuring herself at a festival and from her experience we would like to offer a few words of prevention and advice. (She slipped in the mud and dislocated her knee cap)!
Footwear. Make sure that you have a good protective shoe/boot with a good grip underneath to prevent slipping.
Caution as soon as it rains. Balancing in the mud is not easy so take small steps to avoid slipping. The common injuries are fractured ankles, wrists and strains to the knee.
Over exertion – take it easy, especially when dancing in muddy conditions!
As we say, prevention is always better than a cure!
