The lighter evenings are here, a welcome bonus for everyone training after work. The London Marathon is just over 2 weeks away. In this newsletter we focus on iliotibial band syndrome; a common running injury. We continue to offer our Marathon Package, combining physio, sports massage and Pilates. As well as treating injuries, we offer prevention strategies and maintenance programs to keep you going to the end. Good luck to all our marathon runners!
STAFF UPDATE
We are delighted to announce that Eve gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in February called Clarence. Both mother and baby are doing really well.
SATURDAY MORNING CLINIC
From mid April the clinic will be open on Saturday mornings for physiotherapy. Please contact us for further information.
The ITB (Iliotibial Band) is a fibrous band which stretches from the side of your hip to the outside of your knee. One of it’s key roles is to provide stability to the outside of the knee. When an increased load is placed through the knee (e.g. increased mileage) the ITB can get irritated and become painful.
Factors that affect this include:
Muscle imbalance of the hip and knee
Decreased flexibility and strength
Running style and biomechanics
How can physiotherapy help?
A full assessment will identify what is causing the pain
Decrease the pain using manual therapy, stretching and taping
We continue to offer women’s health, ante and post natal physio, pre and post op rehabilitation using manual therapy, exercise, acupuncture and functional training.
PILATES AND SPORTS MASSAGE ALSO AVAILABLE
GIFT VOUCHERS AVAILABLE
